Well, the picture above does neither depict Karen nor Shellie Poole, but rather Alisha herself... a little, almost angelic creature (- if one disregards the devilish horns), who can be seen in videos, on CDs, and who can be heard about in their songs... (especially in their second hit, Alisha Rules The World, which succeeded the success of the single I Am, I Feel. As Shellie Poole says: "Alisha's a fictional character, but she's a bit of both of us." (Actually, Shellie stated in an interview done with BBC radio 1 in October 1996, that Alisha was the name of her imaginary friend of her childhood days... and that that friend did outrageous things... :)).

Alisha is a bit of a bad angel. She's got a halo and horns, wears a fairy dress with jeans underneath, and while she's perfectly capable of being sweet and nice, she might just beat you up! The album was recorded at The Church in Crouch End, England and produced by Dave Stewart. With influences ranging from Prince to Hendrix, to Wendy and Lisa to Kate Bush, the result is entirely original and insistently personal.

The frontwomen of the band have been growing up with music, literally, as their father, Bryan Poole, had a band of his own, which was rather famous in the 60s (and still can be seen on occasions like oldie-shows): The Tremoloes. Their own music is absolutely not stuff from he sixties, but perhaps their habit of being barefoot in videos and TV appearances may be reminescent of those times... Or then again, maybe not.
