Well, to be honest, Ed, as she is called for short, is a fictitious character. And, no, I have not mistaken the pronoun. Ed is a girl, about 13 years of age, and part of the crew of a space ship called Bebop.

She has joined a band of space-faring bounty hunters, and helps the crew with her hacking skills.
In the anime series Cowboy Bebop Ed is constantly barefoot. In one episode, she is about to don shoes, but already when trying to walk in socks, she almost topples over, only to remove the socks again, and go out in her bare feet.
