Unmistakably, Janis Joplin, who only lived 27 years, has become one of the icons and is also mentioned when it comes to naming persons who can be called typical people of the Woodstock and hippie era. Not to forget, her loneliness and sadness, despite her success - or perhaps because of it, did filter into her style of singing. Being a role model for living the way she wanted, she also performed and went around in her bare feet often. It is too bad, that we cannot ask her anymore, if she just did it because she wanted - but I am sure that this might exactly be her answer. 'It's me, so I do it...' - this might be the briefest answer she would give to such a question.
